RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the operations of the Trade Services, GBI India with the key focus on,

To authorize the transactions up to the approved limits

Maximizing the productivity of the teams

Ensuring that efficient and high quality services are provided to customers within established budgets / costs to maintain the desired cost / income ratios with a clear focus on compliance related matters

Maintaining high morale of the staff

To actively ensure management of risk as per the Group Policy on risk Policies and Procedures and ensure the culture of the risk awareness and mitigation throughout the Department

Strategy

Exhibit qualities which demonstrate the groups strategy

To treat Customers with Human touch and understand the importance at every business stage and inculcate this aspect in reporting Staff

To support strategic intent, on the growth of business, cross functional advantage and work on cost efficiency

To drive group strategy initiatives for the whole Unit

Serving on committees with members from across different functions

Ability to participate in professional/trade associations/forums /meetings

Business

Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the customers to ensure that service issues are promptly escalated and acted upon;

Initiate & Implement service quality initiatives within the Team to improve productivity, accuracy and timeliness

Uphold the values of the Group and Company at all times

Processes

Ensure that the processing capabilities are geared up to achieve timeliness & accuracy standards as per the Service Level Standards and strive to exceed the agreed standards

Ensure that the team members adhere to the procedures set in the Departmental Operating Instructions manuals in order to achieve optimum efficiency in the conduct of their jobs

Ensure compliance with all applicable Rules / Regulations and Company and Group Policies

Identify exceptions from the norms & initiate corrective and preventive actions

Comply with Group Sanctions Policy and Procedures

Comply with Local Sanctions Policy and Procedures, if any

Comply with Group Money Laundering Prevention Policy and Procedures to the extent applicable and escalate any unusual/complex transaction on the AML aspect to the AML advisors

To promote the culture and practice of compliance within the letter and spirit of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in the conduct of business

To have good judgement and an inquisitive approach to practices and procedures on AML To have personal authority, integrity, independence and resilience while handling such transactions

Wherever complexity exists in the transaction, conduct review to ascertain whether the transaction has any money laundering aspects and escalate to AML advisors

Ensure appropriate escalation process in case of transactions in need

Where applicable, ensure compliance to Group and Country Regulations are managed to the extent agreed with the countries through tools such as CRM (Compliance Risk Matrix)

People and Talent

Promote an environment where all team members develop a sense of involvement in the conduct of their regular work and contribute ideas with the objective to achieve excellence in service quality

Work with the line managers to develop key resources through appropriate training

Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks

Risk Management

Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks relevant to Trade Operations

Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

Responsible for delivering effective governance; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct

Lead the Trade Operations Team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Banks Conduct Principles Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment

Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

Ensure that the operations of the Trade Service areas are managed within the established budgets and target cost / income ratios

QUALIFICATIONS Training, licenses, memberships and certifications

16 Years experience in Trade Finance

Preferably Professionally qualified in Accounts / Finance / Banking

Knowledge of core banking, products and operations with a good knowledge of Trade Finance Products

Well developed analytical skills, ability to handle high priority issues on product delivery and strong interpersonal skills
