Job Description:

The Quality Engineer plans and directs activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, products and established quantitative measurements and techniques for measuring quality

Key Responsibilities

Plan, implement and manage compliance of manufacturing and production processes in alignment with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements

Pro mote Quality within the entity, ensuring that all managers and staff are made aware of the QMS and the specifics as relevant to the entity and their roles and responsibility in its operation

Work Closely with Production, Engineering, and Management to address issues

Maintain nonconformance reporting, corrective and preventive action system, certifications, product specifications, and metrology/calibration systems

Work closely with buyers and vendors to bring product non-conformances to resolution by root cause analysis, immediate implementation of containment action(s), and a timely supplier verification of the permanent corrective action

Where applicable, utilize PFMEA and DMAIC methods to ensure robust preventative actions are implemented to resolve and provide sustainable solutions to quality concerns

Support receiving, in-process, and final inspections, review and signoff on final inspections in compliance with assembly and testing specifications

Work with supply chain team and vendor candidates in review of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) samples to assist in component qualification, including coordinating metrology, measurement system analysis and capability assessments to ensure all externally supplied componentry meets design requirements according to documented quality requirements

Design, implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products

Design methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products

Perform internal auditing of quality procedures and functions

Write procedures, standard work, work instructions and develop forms as needed

Reporting & Analytics

Perform data analysis to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary

Compile and report internal performance measures relative to the QMS and business objectives

Implement and maintain process control measurement systems (Statistical Process Control, Process Capability Measures, Acceptable Quality Limits, etc) for statistical process trends to support the implementation of Quality Control Planning

Health, Safety & Environmental

Oversee and promote effective Health, Safety and Environmental programs and practices, ensuring that high standards of site safety are established and met

Demonstrate personal commitment to a safety and quality culture

Establishes clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results

Identifies and addresses general root causes to safety and quality problems

Minimal Job Requirements

BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent

3-5 years QA/QC experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment required

Supervisory experience preferred

Direct experience in the implementation and/or maintenance of advanced quality control systems (ISO 9001 & Pressure Equipment Directive)

Experience in quality control requirements of highly regulated products (ASME codes, ANSI, ASTM, PED, DCMA military specifications, medical devices, automotive, etc)

Proficiency utilizing MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint

ERP systems (Oracle, SAP)

Lean Six Sigma Certification Green Belt and/or ASQ-CQE strongly preferred

CMM operator experience strongly desired
