Description

Total responsibility for ensuring that the plant enhances its position relative to productivity, quality, cost reduction, and state-of-the-art leadership in all operating areas

Responsibilities

Evaluate all current operations to determine areas of strength and limitations, and anticipated needs created by future growth
Execute direction from Hermetic Motor Management on short-range and long-range operating plans based on sales forecasts, production capacity, quality, personnel, financial capabilities and other factors that impact the entire operation- will also develop certain operating plans as necessary
Assume a leadership position and serve as the focal point of all day-to-day activities at the plant
Ensure that management tools are in place to develop and control all aspects of operations including cost reduction programs, quality, equipment utilization, plant layout, human resource utilization, union avoidance, etc
Direct the development and implementation of programs and policies on a prioritized basis to ensure goals and objectives are met or exceeded
Coordinate operations with the Vice President of Operations and others to ensure that the plant operations conform to business unit objectives and that the business unit policies are communicated to all key employees
Evaluate all management personnel to ensure they are functioning effectively, contribution to their potential, and are being developed for broader responsibilities in the future
Select, hire, develop and motivate members of the management team, as necessary, to ensure that goals and objectives are met or exceeded
Ensure close cooperation between all plant personnel and sales/marketing, finance, product engineering and others who work closely with the plant
Develop and institute programs that maintain the high momentum of the companys Continuous Improvement philosophy
Develop programs that enable the company to stay well informed regarding state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, competitive position and other operations-oriented activities to ensure the company achieves a technological leadership position
Participate, with the Vice President of Operations and other senior executives, on a routine basis, in the overall strategic planning and management of the company
Maintain open lines of communications and personally visit key customers, suppliers, and other outside groups to maintain an up-to-date understanding of the industry trends and needs
Ensure that sound accounting, budget and other financial controls are in place and being implemented at all levels within the Department
Provides a safe work environment by meeting and exceeding environmental, health, and safety requirements and goals

Requirements

Bachelors degree required, technical curriculum preferred MBA preferred
5 years of plant management experience
Earlier experience in one or more manufacturing disciplines is required, ie manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, quality, materials, and product engineering
Must have a proven record of accomplishment in terms of directing a plant that has successfully executed a turnaround, ramp-up, or start up
Must have experience developing and implementing business strategies, budgets, projects, and work teams needed to implement change
Must have experience with Kaizen projects, continuous cost improvement, employee empowerment, ISO 9000/9002, JIT, work cells, etc
Must demonstrate an ability to build and direct a team effort, produce and deliver a quality product, and gain the confidence and cooperation of the workforce
