Indian Navy Multi Tasking Staff Syllabus

The Indian Navy is a well-balanced and cohesive three-dimensional force, capable of operating above, on and under the surface of the oceans, efficiently safeguarding our national interests.

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) exercises operational and administrative control of the Indian Navy from the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy). He is assisted by the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) and three other Principal Staff Officers, namely the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS), the Chief of Personnel (COP) and the Chief of Material (COM).

The Navy has the following three Commands, each under the control of a Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief:-

• The Western Naval Command (Headquarters at Mumbai).

• The Eastern Naval Command (Headquarters at Visakhapatnam)

• The Southern Naval Command (Headquarters at Kochi)

The Western and the Eastern Naval Commands are ‘Operational Commands’, and exercise control over operations in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal respectively. The Southern Command is the Training Command.

Syllabus of Indian Navy Multi Tasking Staff:

General Intelligence/Awareness & Reasoning:

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problems solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relation concepts, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include question design to test the candidate abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, and other analytical functions. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography, economics scene, general policy including Indian Constitution and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require special study of any discipline.  

English Language: In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of English language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonymous, antonyms and its correct usage etc. His/her writing ability would also be tested. 

Numerical Aptitude:

This paper will include question on problems relating to number systems, computations of whole number, decimal and fractions and relationship between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages interests, profit and loss, discount, time and distance, ratio and time, time and work etc. 

Information on relevant Trade/Post: The test will include questions relating to Trade/Post, as per the essential/desirable qualification specified at para 4,above
