What are YouTube Marketing - Video Transcripts?

As a Content developer you need to reach each and every potential audience. Easy way of doing this is through video transcripts. Transcripts resemble captions. they carry a text form, which is only included in Video.

Follow the commands given below to add Subtitles and Closed Captions −

  • Go to your Video Manager by clicking your account in the top right → Create Studio → Video Manager → Videos.
  • Next to the video you want to add captions or subtitles to, click the drop-down menu next to the Edit button.
  • Select Subtitles and CC.
  • Click the Add new subtitles or CC button.
  • Choose how you want to add your edit Subtitles or Closed Captions to your video.

Use Automatic Captioning

You can use youtubes speech recognition technology to automatically develop captions to your videos. If auto captions are available they can be published on the video automatically.

Automatic captions are available in Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, and Russian.

Format Your Transcript File

Save the text in your video in a plain text file (.txt). You can convert other formats in to a plain text file or you can chose native programs on your desktop like textedit or notepad.

In order to get the best results, use these formatting tips −

  • Use a blank line to force the start of a new caption.
  • Use square brackets to designate background sound. For example, [music] or [laughter].
  • Add >> to identify speakers or change of speaker.
