components of a WSDL document XML

A Web service allows users to reuse the functionality that a vendor provides. To enable users to use a Web service, you need to expose the service in the UDDI directory. You learned about UDDI in "Introduction to UDDI."

After exposing a Web service, you need to provide the user with the information about the Web service. This information includes the location of the Web service, the Web methods that the Web service exposes, and so on. In addition, you need to provide this information in a standard format so that users can easily interpret and understand them. As a result, a standard language was developed to describe a Web service. This standard description language is called Web Services Description Language (WSDL).

This chapter introduces you to WSDL. You will look at a sample WSDL document and use it to learn about the components of a WSDL document
