What is Twitter Marketing Search?

Search can be done on Twitter in many ways. The tweets can be searched by self, friends, local businesses and others like known entertainers or the global political leaders.

The topic keywords or the hashtags can be searched and the ongoing conversations about any breaking news or the personal interests can be followed.

How searching is done on Twitter?

The twitter search is done as follows:

  • Login to the Twitter account.
  • Provide the search query in the search box at the top of the page and hit the return key. The search displays a combination of Tweets, photos, accounts, and more.
  • The results are filtered by selecting Top, Live, Accounts, Photos, or Videos.
  • The above filters along with the News are visible by clicking on More options.

The results can also be viewed from everyone or only the people who follow and from everyone near.

Advanced search enables to tailor the search results by specific date ranges, people and more, aiming it easy to identify the specific tweets.

How to use Advance Search on Twitter?

Advances search is used on Twitter as follows:

  • In the search bar of, provide the search query.
  • Click on More options at the top of the result page.
  • Click on Advanced search,
  • The search results are refined by filling appropriate fields.
  • Click Search to see the desired results.

The search results can be refined using advanced search by using any combination of the below fields:

  • Words
  • Tweets containing all words in any position (“Twitter” and “search”).
  • Tweets containing exact phrases (“Twitter search”).
  • Tweets containing any of the words (“Twitter” or “search”).
  • Tweets excluding specific words (“Twitter” but not “search”).
  • Tweets with a specific hashtag (#twitter).
  • Tweets in a specific language (written in English).
  • People
  • Tweets from a specific account (Tweeted by “@example”).
  • Tweets sent as replies to a specific account (in reply to “@example”).
  • Tweets that mention a specific account (Tweet includes “@example”).
  • Places
  • Tweets sent from a geographic location, say a specific city, state, country.
  • The geographical location is selected by using the place dropdown.
  • Dates
  • Tweets sent before a specific date, after a specific date or within a date range.
  • From date and to date are selected by using the Calendar dropdown.
  • Search for Tweets from any date since the first public Tweet.
