There are situations in which we allow access to an object to a user but then we also need to restrict the access to certain fields of that object. Thus, using field level security, we can switch the user's access to see, edit or delete certain fields of an object.
Field level access settings are obtained in two ways −
To give edit access to the field DeliverySchedule on the object DeliveryLocations, we go to the permission set named CourierObjects which we formed in the previous chapter. Then Navigate to the Object settings and select the object named DeliveryLocations. Click Edit and select the field wherein, we want to set the permission.
To set the field permission for one field across all profiles we open the object over schema builder and then right click on the exact field, select manage Manage Field Permissions. We will now get the choice to set the field permissions for numerous profiles for this single field.
