In this game you need to gain points by sitting on the horseback against the opposite team by hitting a ball directed to their goal area provided with a long handled mallet. Each team consists of four riders. A ball would be in solid plastic spherical shape that is used in playing the game. Currently, many persons who conduct events of this have changed it with wooden balls too. The game duration is 2 hours and each game is divided into periods known as Chukkas.

Polo is said to be evolved from Central Asia in between 6BC and 1 AD. Ancient history reveals that Persian Emperor Shapur II also played this game. The Delhi Sultan Qutubuddin Aibak also was dead while playing this game.

The 10th edition of the World Polo Championship was conducted at Santiago, Chile. Till date Argentina won 4 championship titles and is in the top ranking list.
