What are the different aspects behind building team under the mid-level managers?

The main aim for creating a team is to complete the tasks within specific period of time. An ideal strategic planning process develops a good team building. For creation of a team there should be a proper strategic planning which enables to accomplish the goals and targets assigned to the team.

Some of the different aspects behind building a team are as follows -

Team Planning

Important step for team building is team planning. The team, the members of the team and the objectives of the team are assessed initially prior to the development of a team. In the absence of team planning, it becomes very difficult for letting even the talented and star performers to work together in a collective and supportive manner.

Team Assessment

Here a complete assessment of the team is performed. The assessment includes the analysis if the performance of the team, identification of the advantages and drawbacks of the members of the team, the contribution of the individual team members towards achieving the goals and in the effort of the team.

Mission Statement

It is the responsibility of the mid-level managers for developing a mission statement. This statement is to be shared among all the team members such that the team members are educated about the objectives and the purpose of the teams.

There are more chances of team adopting to change in the absence of a mission statement for a team. The mission statement enables the team to work with more attention.

One Mission, Different Goals

It is to be noted that when work as the team members it is to be clearly made them understand that mission is different from that of a goal. In order to accomplish the mission of the team, each of the team members are assigned specific goals.

In other words, the final objective of the team is considered as mission and the milestones on the way of achieving this mission are goals of the team members. It is the responsibility of the mid-level managers that for each of the team members goals are to be set such that the team as a whole can attain the mission. The goals should be set in such a manner that the mission is accomplished collectively by the team without any hassles.

The Virtue of Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the mid-level managers that each of the team members are being assigned by some of the tasks and the team member is responsible and accountable for that particular task. It implies that the team members should take the ownership of the responsibilities.

The performance of the team can be improvised by their experience of working in a team. It is considered that in transactional teams, mostly the employees from other departments tend to work better.

The Significance of Tracking

It is the responsibility of the mid-level managers to analyse and assess the work efficiency of the team members and the productivity of the team as a whole. This can be done regularly tracking the performance of the each of the team members and the team as a whole.

This tracking facilitates in identifying if there are any team members who are yet to achieve their goals. It is suggested that the track record should comprise of the check points and progress reports for better performance of the team.

Being Flexible

The leader of the team keeps on changing and there is no permanent leader for the team. The leader of the team changes in accordance with the targets to be achieved by the team. In the absence of the team leader, it is the responsibility of the mid-level manager to climb the ladder of career and take up the responsibilities of a team leader.

It is the responsibility of the mid-level managers to be flexible enough the change is unpredictable and inevitable. This flexibility can be attained by the mid-level managers by taking into consideration all the possibilities and consider all the different possible plans. It is to be understood that the goals will become difficult to achieve if rigidity is maintained.

Hence it is always suggested that it is better to partner with other entities. This makes the team members recognize the mission of the team. The mission is only recognized when the internal planning process is completed by the team. With respect to business, working together with the members of the team facilitates in the developing long-term partnerships.
