Attribute relationships - Microstrategy

You link directly related attributes to each other by defining parent-child relationships. Attribute elements, or the actual data values for an attribute, dictate the relationships that you define between attributes. The parent-child relationships you create here determine the system hierarchy. In other words, they define how the engine generates SQL, hw tables and columns are joined and used, and which tables are related to other tables.

Joint child relationships

Some attributes exist at the intersection of other indirectly related attributes. Such attributes are called joint children.
