LINK Command passes control from the originating program.to another program at one logical level lower than the current, and expecting control to be returned to the originating program upon the successful execution of the RETURN command in the linked-to program. Control is returned to the original calling program to the next sequential executable instruction.

CICS will load the linked-to program if it currently does not reside in CICS main storage. Both the original and linked-to programs execute independently of each-other. Handle conditions, attention identifiers, and abends are not transferred with the execution of the^ link command, and any in effect are restored when control is returned to the calling program. The HANDLE ABEND command can be used in dealing with abnormal terminations in other link levels.
