The CICS Program Control Program (PCP) governs the flow of control among the CICS application programs. The name of the application program must be registered in the Processing Program Table (PT) for CICS to recognize the program. The following commands are available for the Program control functions:

  • LINK - To pass control to another program at a lower level and getting the control back.
  • XCTL - To pass control to another program at the same level and not expecting the control to be returned
  • RETURN - To return to the next higher-level program or CICS.
  • LOAD - To load a program.
  • RELEASE - To release a loaded program
