Eclipse Refactoring - Eclipse

What is Eclipse Refactoring?

Refactoring using Eclipse

Renaming a class which is extensively used throughout a project takes long time, but the Eclipse refactoring wizard does this easily by automatically detecting all the dependencies on the class being renamed and modifying them too.

Refactor menu can be opened in below ways

  • Right click on a Java element in the Package Explorer view and select Refactor menu item.
  • Right click on a Java element in the Java editor and select Refactor menu item.
  • Select a Java element in either the Package Explorer view or Java Editor and clicking Shift + Alt + T.

Refactor menu displays all the possible changes supported on the selected Java element. To rename a class, select the Rename menu item.

Click on Next button to see a preview of the changes (if available) and then click on Finish button to get the wizard to do its work.
