VMware Partners with Salesforce.com and Google Cloud Computing

In late 2009, VMware acquired SpringSource, “. . . bringing VMware one of the most popular Java development frameworks, stewardship of the Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Hyperic, Groovy, and Grails open source communities, as well as a group of engineers focused on the efficient development of applications for the cloud-computing era.” More recently, VMware acquired Rabbit Technologies, the company behind the popular open source cloud messaging technology RabbitMQ. These products, with others promisedfor the near future, are VMware’s “vCloud Developer Services” and “vCloud Platform Services”.

Salesforce.com and VMware have partnered to introduce VMforce—the first enterprise cloud for Java developers. With VMforce, Java developers can build apps that are instantly social and available on mobile devices in real time. And it’s all in the cloud, so there’s no hardware to manage and no software stack to install, patch, tune, or upgrade. Building Java apps on VMforce is easy!
