Just Make the Call; Let Google Do It Cloud Computing

Cloud computing offers a huge advantage for code reuse, as it solves many problems, chief among them version control. Many different applications, for example, can make a call “to the cloud” for a service, and can be assured that the service being provided uses the latest release. For example, Google’s AJAX

let you implement rich, dynamic Web sites entirely in JavaScript and HTML. You can add a map, a dynamic search box, or download feeds to a Web site with just a few lines of JavaScript. The Google API libraries for Google Web Toolkit(GWT) are a collection of libraries that provide Java language bindings for popular Google JavaScript APIs. These libraries make it quick and easy for developers to use Google JavaScript APIs for building and optimizing complex browser-based applications.

Google eats its own dogfood, and GWT is used by many products at Google, including Google Wave (of blessed memory) and Google AdWords. It’s open source, completely free, and used by thousands of developers around the world. The libraries are supported by the Google Web Toolkit team, and calls are executed in the cloud, on Google-maintained servers, with Google worrying about load balancing, performance, and maintenance. Just ask, and ye shall receive.
