Google Web Toolkit™ Cloud Computing

Google Web Toolkit™ (at this writing it’s up to Release 2.0) now includes Java 5 language support so that developers can use the full capabilities of the Java 5 syntax. With Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Web applications can be developed and debugged in the Java programming language familiar to the developer, and then deployed as highly optimized JavaScript. With this approach, developers sidestep common AJAX issues, such as browser compatibility, and achieve significant improvements in performance and productivity.

GWT is a development toolkit for building and optimizing complex browser-based applications. Its goal is to enable productive development of high-performance web applications without the developer having to be an expert in browser quirks, XMLHttpRequest (“an API available in Web browser scripting languages such as JavaScript . . . used to send HTTP or HTTPS requests directly to a web server and load the server response data directly back into the script”), as well as JavaScript. GWT is used by many products within Google, and the new version of AdWords. It’s open source, completely free, and used by thousands of developers around the world
