In the following sections, we discuss Eucalyptus, three flavors of cloud-optimized versions of Linux, VPN-Cubed IPsec to support hybrid architectures, Cohesive FT to wrap code in containers for better portability and management, Zend and Abique for vendor independence, RightScale and 3Tera for vendor independent frameworks, Elastra to automate scalability, and Cloud Brokers for interoperability.

We conclude the chapter with a discussion of initiatives for cloud portability and interclouding.
