Women beat men in entry-level IT jobs

Recent NAASCOM report says that women constitute 50% in entry level jobs compared to men. The Indian IT-BPM sector employs 3.7 million people out of which 1.3 million, or 35%, comprise women. Naascom report mentioned that only 15% of male applicants get final offers, while 22% of women candidates get final offers, indicating a higher success rate for women. The report saw increase in percentage of women moving away from support roles and opting for business-facing operations with increased focus on training and development. Indian firms are encouraging women candidates by sponsoring executive management programmes for high-performing women talent.
