What are key skills? How to add them in your profile?

Key skills are most important things which ca boost your profile in recruiter’s search. Recruiters are looking for the candidates in the database using keywords/key skills.

What are key skills?

Key skills are a set of skills acquired during the job search, education, training, work experience or life experiences. These are known as very important skills, keywords, education required to be filled on a job site. The recruiter needs to shortlist these skills that make him/her suitable for the job requirement. Usually hiring managers search for a candidate database with curtails keywords such as “sales”, “HR”, “civil engineer”. These key skills can be a mix of soft skills and Technical skills acquired through the formal training or career experiences. When recruiterssearch for any of skills mentioned in your profile, your profile will be part of their search results. The more key skills a recruiter uses, the higher your profile will appear in the search results.

● Your designation is not your key skill.But, adding relevant key skills to your designation may your chances of searchability.

● Do not mention your education background, location and languages in your skills section. These are not your skills.

● Your key skills need not to be framed in a sentence. A comma separated list will works as well and helps hiring manager to absorb the importance of your profile.
