A recent study found that nearly 70 per cent India Inc employers feel that their employees are disengaged. The study results found that employees seek freedom to work, flexibility and recognition at work. India Inc employees feel something missing and disengaged at work. Even global studies also found the same but the facts were every interesting for employees feels demotivated and disengaged.

This is why employees feel something is missing at work

Here are the facts for the disengagement of employees.

When there is no recognition: Employees feel that lack of recognition and competitive rewards results in employee disengagement. The salary structure and disparities in payments also includes the reasons for the employee disengagement.

When there is no clarity for the job role: When the job role is not clear then any kind of engagement activities will not work. Employees get engaged when the KRAs and KPIs of the role are well defined and communicated to the employees.

When there is no transparency: When there is no transparency and fairness in the systems is it performance management, rewards & recognition or career growth leads to misunderstandings and further lack of motivation and drop in productivity. If there is any vagueness in the system then employees get disengaged.

When there are no career growth opportunities: Employees always want to grow in their career as they expect training and development programmes from organization. Employees want to take up new roles or grow further in their current roles. Lack of training and development opportunities initiatives makes them look for better jobs outside.

When the company have poor work culture: The work culture of the company drives performance as well as employee motivation. Companies with great work culture always attracts new employees and retain the existing employees. If the internal communication channels (supervisors, even top management) and physical and emotional security are not in place, employees will never connect with the organization.
