Getting or asking for a feedback is a best way to improve one's own performance. Feedback has lot of advantages as it helps to resolve misunderstandings at work and also provides ways to enhance performance. Many of them, in their new job have to undertake new responsibilities. At this point of time, asking for a feedback makes you confident and efficient at work.
Feedback makes you accomplish your task successfully, gives you job satisfaction and boosts your morale. Therefore everyone has to adapt the quality of asking for a feedback and make it an ongoing process for career advancement. But the thing is whom should you ask for a feedback.
Here are some suggestions:
Take a feedback from your seniors: Taking a feedback from your seniors is good because your seniors will have good experience and exposure. You can expect for an honest feedback from your seniors, if you have good relations with your seniors. Show that you are very eager and honest in seeking their opinion on your work. Sit with them, explain the work you have done and give a brief of what are your intentions. Feedback session is not just about listening, but is also about speaking. Make a note of all the problems that you faced while performing your tasks, discuss those difficulties with your seniors and ask them for an answer. Remember that your objective of asking for a feedback is to improve your performance. Therefore, whatever the feedback may be, take it a right way and use it to advance your performance.
Ask for a feedback from your colleagues: Apart from your seniors, you can also ask for a feedback from your colleagues. As a team it is important to know what your colleagues feel about your work. Understand how you can improve your work and also try to be a good team member. Maintaining good relations with your colleagues will help you to get a continuous feedback on your work. It is not possible to change everything they say to you, but use your judgment to pick and choose their advice.
Ask your friends: Friends are the best critics and they can give you genuine feedback of whatever work you do. This is an informal process but this will help to better your performance related to work. If you are not clear of what they are saying, you can ask them to give examples. Ask them how they would react or handle the situation and try to pick finer points for implementation at work. One can only perform better when they get to know what mistakes they are making and knowing mistake can only be possible by asking for a feedback.
