Many International investors are naming India as their manufacturing hub under the make in India initiative. Last decade there was huge growth in telecom sector and in the coming days manufacturing sector is set to grow with smart India initiatives. Demand for talent in manufacturing sector is growing at 8-10 percent which is more at entry level. The impact of Make in India campaign is creating more job opportunities in the Manufacturing sector and estimated to bring growth in the country. Many international players are pumping investments in India to make the country as their manufacturing hub. Skills required for the engineers to work in manufacturing sector are different from other sectors. The functions of engineers in support services were more or less similar to the ones in other sectors. You should have strong experience with expertise in your domain, only in hardcore operations such steel melting shop in the steel industry or colour making in the paint industry are unique to the respective industries. It is must to have strong domain knowledge to keep growing in the manufacturing sector. Even the hiring managers look for the domain experts at middle to senior level roles.
Currently the demand was more for below profiles:
Mechanical engineers: The demand for mechanical engineers is there across the levels and roles.There is a huge demand for them across the levels at all times. Preference is for shop floor rolls such as steel melting shop, hot strip mill and cold rolled mill.
Electrical engineers: The demand for electrical engineers is there across the roles and levels. It was estimated to grow in future for the candidates with technical expertise.
Production engineers: Though the sector prefers mechanical or electrical discipline, in the recent past, production engineers are also preferred. Their demand in the manufacturing sector is there for shop floor jobs i.e. in production departments.
