Recent survey mentioned that demand for freelancers up increased upto 3% as compared to last year. According to the survey 7 in 10 freelancers are women and the number is increasing, survey reveals. The survey was conducted among 1200 working professionals. The survey revealed some important facts about the reason for opting freelancing are including wanted to follow their passion(35%), wanted to be their own boss(25%), over 20% professionals wanted more freedom and flexibility as well as 15% looking to supplement their income and 5% professionals laid off.
While, most in demand freelancing profiles across sectors including content writers/editors/journalists(35%),marketing and advertising professionals(25%),business development professionals/consultants(20%),web developers/designers(15%),Translators(15%),HR consultants(10%),software developers(10%) and data base professionals(5%). Growth in demand for the mentioned profiles have been increased 2% from March 2017 over Feb 2017 and YOY saw 3% growth from March 2016 to March 2017. However, 70% women professionals are more active than men in freelancing. Over 35% freelancers chose full time opportunities and 65% professionals chose part time opportunities. The other interesting fact is that 90% freelancers are working from home and only 10 % freelancers works from office. Over 20 percent professionals feel that freelancing is better than a full time job they will not consider working as an employee again. Nearly 40% professionals opined that freelancing is better than a full time job, but they are open to exploring full time offers. One third of surveyed professionals also believe that freelancing is better than a full time job, but it takes time t gets established as a freelancer. Only 15% surveyed professional said No to freelancing, as they are happier being a full time employee as well as they don't think that freelancing is better than a full time job.
