Telecom network equipment maker Nokia to cut 10,000 to 15,000 jobs globally as part of the cost-cutting programme. Nokia targeted to slash 900 million euros ($1 billion) of operating costs by 2018. Currently Nokia has 1,04,000 manpower strength across the globe. Nokia has said it is looking to reduce 1,400 positions in Germany.

In France, it would cut around 400 jobs but also create 500 research and development posts. According to Communication Workers of America (CWA), the company has implemented cost cutting strategies to slash US jobs a year ago in preparation for their 15.6 billion euro merger. Nokia forecasted that its network sales would fall this year.
