Recent survey mentioned hat work-life balance and job timings are the most important factors jobseekers consider while taking up a job. The survey found that more than half of the workforce dissatisfied with current work hours. Among them 5% are much satisfied with their working hours. And 40%are just about satisfied and 55% are totally dissatisfied with their working hours. The survey mentioned that only 5% people work less than 30 hours a week and about 15% work for 30-35 hours in a week. The survey depicted that nearly 60% work between 30-45 hours and only 20% people work more than 40 hours.
Flexible work options:
More than half of the Indian companies are offering flextime facilities to their employees. Among them 35% employees offered with work from home option. Very few companies (10%) companies offer work part time (less than 30 hours a week) option. Interestingly 5% can do job sharing which is a flexible work option.
Work life balance:
While, work life balance is the main criteria for many employees. More than 30% employees preferable choose work life balance facilities when they are taking up the job. More than 20% look for work timings and only 15% consider work environment as the primary consideration when they are accepting a job offer. Job role/ profile is the another important criteria for 15% employees and only 10% people consider salary as the main criteria. Only 10% candidates look for the perks/benefits when they are selecting a job offer.
Meanwhile 45% employees stated that flexible working option benefitted them to learn more and up skill themselves. Only 25% opined that up skilling gives more efficiency in work and 20% believed that up skilling causes imporved health and less stress. It will also provide more time for family and self.
