Microsoft to cut 7,800 jobs

The world's largest software company Microsoft to cut 7800 jobs, which is the second major layoff announcement in a year. A year ago it has announced 18000 jobs as part of its integration with Nokia handset division. Major Job cuts will be in the phone division and the company will write down the value of its phone business acquired from Nokia by some $7.6 billion. According to the official sources, Microsoft had the global employee strength of 1,18,000 at the end of March. Microsoft announced the launch of new operating system Windows 10 in July, which can be used for both personal computers and mobile devices. We are moving from a strategy to grow a standalone phone business to a strategy to grow and create a vibrant Windows ecosystem that includes our first-party device family said Microsoft CEO.
