Manufacturing sector may create 3.2 million jobs during the 12th Plan period (2012-17), according to a study by Assocham.


India's manufacturing sector with improved economic performance has shown 28.5 per cent growth in employment generation during the 11th Plan (2007-12). Among the states, Tamil Nadu topped with highest share of 14.5 per cent in total jobs generated by registered manufacturing sector across India, followed by Maharashtra (14 per cent) and Gujarat (10 per cent). The other countries also occupied remarkable growth in these years.
