IT industry to create fewer jobs in 2015: Nasscom

Software industry body Nasscom stated that, increased automation of software coding will focus on improving productivity and higher employee utilization levels will result in fewer tech jobs created this year. Naascom estimated that nearly 2 lakh net jobs generated in 2015-16. New technologies are creating many new roles at entry level. The software industry is expected to grow at a stable rate of 12 to 14% compared to nearly 14% in the previous fiscal. Software companies recorded attrition levels of 14 to 18% while BPO firms recorded 25 to 35% attrition rates. Recruitment of fresh engineering graduates may remain unchanged at 2.3 lakh engineers this year.
