How to prepare for PTE 2019 Exam?

Pearson Test of English is usually abbreviated as PTE, a recognized test for English language. However, tests like TOEFL and IELTS are close competitors to PTE, but PTE stands itself apart for reasons. Its result and scoring pattern are the first and foremost reason for it to be distinguished. Why PTE Exam is required?

PTE academic exam is required as it is accepted by thousands of educational institutions across the whole world and also accepted by the governments of New Zealand and Australia for visa grants.

Who takes the PTE Exam?

The test is designed for non-native English speakers who wish to study abroad in countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It checks the ability of candidates to read, write, listen and speak which would be required to them when staying at foreign countries during their studies.

PTE Academic Eligibility Criteria 2019

Anybody who wish to go and study abroad can take this exam as there is no minimum eligibility criteria for this exam. However, some are listed below:

1. Age Limit: Those who wish to apply must be of 16 years of age and those who are below 18 years are required to take a parental consent form signed by either parents or guardian to appear in the exam.

2. Attempts Allowed: Candidates may take this exam as many time as they want as there is no limit specified by Pearson. However, a gap of 5 days is required between the two attempts.

PTE Registration

To register themselves, candidates are required to have a valid ID, generally a passport which they also would need to show the same at the test center on the exam day.

1. Visit the official PTE Academic website.

2. Create your Pearson account giving your required details.

3. After completing the registration process, you will receive an email within 48 hours from Pearson with your login details.

4. Now search for your nearest test center.

5. Select suitable time and date.

6. Then you will be asked to proceed to checkout button.

7. Make payment and finalize your booking.

Cancelling/Rescheduling the PTE Exam

Those who wish to reschedule the exam to any other date can do so through phone or online (PTE official website). And those who do not want to appear for test or cancel the test need to claim the refund before 14 days before the test date.

PTE Exam Fees

For Indian candidates, the PTE Academic exam fees is Rs 11,271 + 18% GST means a total of Rs.13,300. In case of late booking, the fees is Rs.16,625 (14,089 + 18% GST).

PTE Rescheduling Fees

Those who need to reschedule the test, with less than 14 days, but at least full 7 days before their test date will be required to pay 50% of the test fee remembering cancellation and reschedule policy doesn’t include the test date. No refund will be provided on rescheduling the exam less than 7 days before the exam.

Using your online account, you can access your PTE scores very easily logging in to your Pearson VUE account created to book the test and to access the scores after receiving the email regarding availability of your score.

How to Send PTE Score Report to colleges?

Applicants are required to do so via online secure portal by PTE. Note that the score paper and PDF versions of the score reports are not acceptable by the universities.

Steps to send your PTE Score Report:

● Login to your account.

● Click 'View Score Reports'.

● Click 'Send Scores'.

● Type the name of your chosen college/institution.

● Review your details then scroll down the page and click 'Next' and then 'Next' again to confirm.

PTE Result

PTE results are issued online and usually declared within 5 working days from the date of the test which can be accessed using your online PTE Academic student account after receiving the email sent within 5 days with instruction on accessing the result online.
