Getting an internship offer and being excited to begin with the first day makes you happy and nervous too. One of the main reasons for the nervousness is about the question in your mind about what to wear? Internship is a circumstance, where one should look professional and well maintained student attire with pocket friendly budget. Preparing for this with little effort can present you as smart as you work.

Internships in Banking & Finance, HR, Consulting or Law: As an intern you need not dress up with a suit or formal attire, though you see a lot of people dressed up in formal suits, even if you are working at an investment bank or a law firm or a big time corporate or a government agency. Try to look professional and sharp without avoiding your personal style. Try to mix and match your formals and keep your accessories professional and restrained.

Internships in Education or Advertising, Marketing, Management, NGOs: If you have not chosen a high-powered corporate environment, the probabilities of having a business casual as your dress code are privileged. Generally marketing and advertising firms, NGOs shortlist follow this.This type of environment lets you show off your personal style. But business casuals have a definition and try to stick to them and do not misuse your independence. Avoid using cut outs and fitted outfits; try to give your appearance a professional look.

Internships in Magazines, Fashion or PR, Media, Design: Internship in newspaper, web, TV, design or fashion may call for innovative dressing. The objective is to look like you are prepared to handle any situation with confidence. It is here important that your personal style excels too. Depending on the work environment, you can select from your closet. Basic colours with a dart of creative can work best. Choose something more appropriate and delicate that adds to your confidence.

Avoidable things that You Should Never Wear to Work:

Having an idea about what to wear to your internship. Now its better to know what not to wear to and should never be a part of your work wear.

1.Crop Tops/Jerseys: Keep them for you day out on holidays. At an internship they do not make sense and display a fundamental attitude towards work.

2.Shorts: Try to avoid a pair of shorts away from your work wear. They don't display the causality which is good for your work wear. Instead save them for your beach holidays

3.Flip Flops: No matter how casual is your work environment, avoid wearing flip flops to office. They leave an uninterested statement to your employer.

4.Loud Make-Up/Accessories: Have your personal style, but if it includes showy bold and loud accessories, you need to tone down a bit. An internship is the first and foremost step towards your career. It is important that you take every step carefully to build a successful career ladder.
