Personal pronouns: Your resume shouldn't include the words I,me,she,or my.
Present tense for a past job: Never describe past work experience using the present tense.
A less-than-professional email address: Use only professional mail ids for job search related communications.
Headers and footers, tables, images, or charts: Well-formatted header and footer may look professional, and tables, images, or charts may boost your credibility, they also confuse the applicant tracking systems.
Your current business contact info: Do not include your current company emails Ids and contact numbers.
Your boss's name: Don't include your boss's name unless you're OK with your potential employer contacting him/her.
Company-specific jargon: Be sure to exclude terms on your resume that are known only to one specific organization.
Social media URLs that are not related to the targeted position: List only relevant URLs.
More than 15 years of experience: Add only relevant experience from the past 15 years, so hiring managers only need to see that.
Salary information; Adding salary information is not necessary and it may send the wrong message to the recruiters.
Outdated fonts: Use standard fonts in your resume.
Fancy fonts: If fonts are fancier then recruiters absorb very less information about you.
Annoying buzzwords: Words such as best of breed,go-getter,think outside the box,synergy and people pleaser are the biggest turnoffs.
Reasons you left a company or position: It is not advisable to list out the reasons why you left your previous job.
Your GPA: Your grades are not relevant once you are out of the college.
A photo of yourself: It is also not suggested for some positions.
Opinions, not facts: Don't describe yourself on your resume like I'm an excellent communicator or highly organized and motivated.
Short-term employment: Avoid a job if you held a position for a very short period.
