5 Common Resume Myths that killing your job Search
Resume is a transcription of your entire professional and academic background. However there are important dos and don'ts of your resume. A well formatted resume increases your chances of being selected for the applied job but a bad resume always hurts your job winning chances. A poorly drafted resume will take away your job opportunities from your doorstep. Here are some common resume myths that need to avoid having a smooth job search.
Myth 1: Your Qualifications are the Most Important- This is misleading myth and your qualifications are most important but other things that matter as much as your qualifications are:
- Communication Channels
- Name of Your University
- Career Goals
- Any prevalent medical condition that can affect the job
- Any background that has a strong impact to make on the employer
Myth 2: Your resume should be eye catching- It is a fact that your resume should be eye catching and the presented information should be comprehensive. The information furnished should be eye catching and being simple and up to the point. If the content matters okay with employers then it will be attractive. Here no need to use highlighters, ornamentals writing, uses simple fonts like Times New Roman or Aerial. Here employers look for your skills accomplishments to decide your candidature for the job.
Myth 3: Your Resume Should Have Every Detail- It is not necessary to include all the things in your resume that you have learned from day one of school and your last day at college. Have two pages resume and include relevant information that makes your resume fit for the applied role.
Myth 4: Your resume should include all details- This is a common myth that extra curriculum activities doesn?t matter. But today's employers always look for the extracurricular activities that mentioned in your resume.
Myth 5: A cover letter is not necessary- Usually employers impressed with the cover letter you have sent with your resume. It is important to include a cover letter with your resume and it shouldn?t have included the same information furnished in your resume.
