2,000 Chennai Nokia staff opt for early retirement scheme offered by management

While employees of Nokia India's Chennai facility knock on the doors of authorities seeking help saving their jobs, at least 2,000 of them have opted for the early retirement scheme. Many of the employees have been chosen voluntary retirement scheme and Chennai market is the sign of manufacturing destination for India. The reason behind this is that the company has orders to make only 1.5 million handsets and that it would require only about 1,300 employees to sustain operations.
