Xindia Steels Limited has recently commissioned a 0.8 mtpa Iron Ore Pelletisation facility in Koppal District, adjacent to Hospet, in Karnataka, at a total cost of slightly over Rs.250 Crores.Close on the heels of the 1st Phase, Xindia (pronounced 'Schindia'), has ambitious plans to go up the value chain in Steel and put up an integrated Iron and Steel complex in phases at the same location. The project construction work for the 2nd phase is to be taken up shortly.
System Administrator's job responsibility is to ensure Xindia IT infrastructure is up and running. System Administrator is responsible for all technical, planning, operational and security issues concerning the computer servers and network. This includes, but is not limited to installing, supporting, monitoring and maintaining the servers, workstations, network including wireless network and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.The system administrator is also the primary contact for Xindians in need of technical support.ResponsibilitiesThe system administrator has numerous responsibilities that must be attended to on a regular basis. The following are some of the more critical items:IT Infrastructure Development and Maintenance: Planning and implementing modifications to technical infrastructure. Develop and maintain automated processes for internal software configuration and maintenance. Update and maintain internal documentation of systems and processes. Remotely update, install, configure software on servers in remote location. Work in a mixed server environment covering Linux and Wintel serversServer monitoring and backups: Monitoring the state of the servers, conducting and verifying the validity of backups of the servers. Ensure ongoing reporting of servers and service status.Electronic Mail: Ensure that the electronic mail capabilities of the server are operational at all times.User Support: The system administrator represents the first line of support for Xindians. In situations where the system administrator cannot readily answer technical questions or solve technical problems, it is his/her responsibility to use all available technical resources to discover and relate a solution back to the user.Network Monitoring: Monitoring the state of the network and general network throughput. Any serious degradation in performance of the network should be diagnosed to the extent possible and ratified.Security: To act as the computer security officer for Xindia. It is his/her responsibility to investigate and resolve unsuccessful login attempts, intruder detection lockouts and compromised passwords.Policies: Define and implementation IT related policies.Any other tasks as assigned.
